Appointments

The surgeries are run by appointment only but we will see urgent medical problems by arrangement as soon as possible, usually at the end of surgeries.  If you
cannot keep an appointment please contact the surgery as soon as possible. 

Routine appointments are for 10 minutes. If you have more than one immediate medical problem which you wish to discuss during your consultation with the Doctor please inform the Receptionist, when you book, that you require a 20 minute appointment.

Nearly all of our patients are seen within 2 working days of asking for routine appointment.  We have just installed a new telephone system to improve our service but at busy times you may still have to wait a little time to speak to the receptionist.

We would like to make our patients aware that you are now able to book an appointment with a GP up to three months in advance.

Telephone Consultations  

The Doctors and Nurse are happy to advise patients when we have time in the working day, usually at the end of surgery.  Please request a telephone consultation. 

We will generally give an approximate time when we will ring back or if not in surgery we will generally take the call straight away.  At present we do not consult by email or fax.  We generally do not prescribe for a new problem without seeing the patient.  The law requires us to see all patients who require sick notes except in exceptional circumstances.
 

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10am if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.
